Flatiron Elementary School Principal David Fuchs was suspended over an incident last week in which a student allegedly called him a “fucking racist” for being “fucked by a black man” on social media.
The teacher was fired on Monday by the district after he was fired over the incident.
In the video, a black student named Jamil Brown is seen walking to the front of the classroom and sitting in a chair with a student named Rashad Wilson, who is black.
As Brown walks toward Wilson, he yells at Wilson, “Why do you hate black people?”
“Shut up and shut up,” Brown responds.
“That’s your race, not mine,” Wilson responds.
Brown and Wilson then get into an argument over whether Wilson was speaking about the color of his skin.
Brown is heard shouting, “Shut the fuck up!”
The student is then seen pushing Wilson, causing the black boy to hit the ground.
Immediately after the fight, the school resource officer arrived and called for backup, saying, “A lot of people have been in this situation, he’s going to have to leave the classroom now.”
According to the district, the teacher was suspended for 30 days and is currently under investigation.
After the incident, Fuchs wrote in a statement, “I take this matter seriously.
I was terminated for having a disagreement with a member of the Flatiron School community and for failing to report it.
I take full responsibility for my actions and am confident that I can and will change.”
Fuchs also apologized to the student’s family and said he did not intend to make an issue out of the situation, and “will work to restore trust and friendship with all of our students and families.”
The incident comes on the heels of the death of Jamil Wilson, a student from the Flatirons community who died after being allegedly attacked by a teacher on the school bus.
