He said the driver of the bus, 22-year-old Thomas Linn, was taken to a hospital in Lexington with injuries to his legs, buttocks and back.
The driver, whose name has not been released, was hospitalized with minor injuries, Cate said.
He was not injured in the crash.
Kent State University officials did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

It is not clear how many people were on the bus.
